Cake Poker Software Glitch
The table was a 0.02/$0.04 NL Holdem and the pot was $5.72. The board ran 4c 4h 8h 6h 9h. With four hearts on the table the first player had a flush as he held the Ace of hearts, but the pot was awarded to the player with pocket Kings.
Lee Jones, Cake Poker’s Manager, decided to address the issue by posting on the 2+2 forum. "Obviously, we had a perfect storm of state variables which caused this problem. We don’t believe it’s happened before and we definitely don’t expect it to happen again. But we’re putting in more checks to make sure it doesn’t," he wrote.
The Cake Poker team has not found the cause of the malfunction yet but Jones reinforces that this was a onetime malfunction and that it will not happen again. Cake Poker also offered to give $500 reward to any player who can find a similar incident in their hand histories. "If you were the true winner of the pot and it wasn’t pushed to you, we’ll send you double the size of the pot plus the $500," Jones added.
