High Stakes Poker Season 6 - Episode 1

High Stakes Poker Season 6 - Episode 1

The most popular poker TV show is finally back with its sixth season airing on GSN. The first episode aired last night and it was full of exciting action as well as a great display of skill by all the players present.

On Sunday GSN ran a marathon of season 5 that brought so many memories to all of us as we were able to appreciate how good it was again. The sixth season promises to have a lot of fast play and interesting interactions between the players.

Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Andreas Hoivold, Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen, Tom Dwan, Antonio Esfandiari and Dario Mineri are all on the first table sitting left to right, respectively. Ivey and Dwan decided to bring $500,000 to the table and all the other players brought the required buy-in of $200,000. Some other faces that you should expect to see on the show are Barry Greenstein, Doyle Brunson, Sammy George, Daniel Negreanu, Jevgeny Timoshenko, among others.

Gabe Kaplan is back for the commentaries and he has brought Kara Scott as the new co-host for the show. The first episode is now available online and all of them will be right after the day they air on GSN.

WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic Kicks Off With Small Field

WPT 5 Diamond Classic

WPT 5 Diamond Classic

The WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic got underway with 296 players. The field of players was nowhere near the organizers’ expectations as they had prepared themselves to receive 400 players.

During Day 1 of play event organizers decided to extend the registration deadline until the end of the day and even though the field turned up to be small, it is a very tough one with only top-class players in it.

Some of the attendants are Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen, Men Nguyen, Bertrand Grospellier, Joe Hachem and Antonio Esfandiari. It was quite surprising to see Doyle Brunson come in late (almost at the end of the day) to the tournament named after him, he was seen at a cash game at the Bellagio while the tournament was already underway.

Some players were unhappy about the organization of the seats as players would get to seat next to the player who registered before them. "Wow Bellagio officially runs the worst tourney in the country now. Sign up after a guy and you get position on him at the table. Mind boggling," Daniel Negreanu complained in a Twitter update.

280 players will return for Day 2 of play.
