EPT Berlin Robbery
Predictions are that the thieves will be caught soon as they seem to be an amateur gang and were not careful enough in their procedures. Even though the gang came into the Grand Hyatt wearing masks like decent crooks, they made a horrific error and stopped at a nearby McDonald’s for some food before the crime was committed.
The security cameras at McDonald’s caught the thieves’ faces in full view and it is just a matter of time to identify them now. The German security officers have handled the situation admirably well and hopefully the crime will be resolved soon.
On a different note, in one of the videos taken during the robbery you can see an unarmed security guard throwing objects at the robbers and wrestling with one of them in the ground, but he eventually gave up after being threatened with a machete.
"I acted purely on instinct," said the security guard. "But when his accomplice came at me with a machete I had to let go of him. Naturally it irritates me but I had to protect my own life in the situation."
